Some of the Enigma machines are marked with a three letter fabrication code or Fertigungskennzeichen together with the serial number of the machine. The label might take the form as shown here for the 1944 model of the Naval Enigma M4:

The fabrication codes were issued in lists by the
Heereswaffenamt Wa Z 2
(The Army's Ordnance Department).
One such list is titled:
Liste der Fertigungskennzeichen für Waffen, Munition und Gerät,
Oberkommando des Heeres, Berlin 1944.
A total of 15 lists are known to have been issued.
